Athens City Guide
Odeon of Herodes Atticus at the Acropolis
Athens is where ancient history meets modern energy — a city you seriously can’t skip when visiting Greece. Whether you’re island hopping across the Aegean Sea or diving into centuries-old archaeological sites, Athens — the capital and the largest city of Greece — is the center of it all.
In this quick guide, you’ll find the best spots to explore, where to stay, and a few insider tips I wish I knew before going. I barely scratched the surface during my visit, but Greece is one of those places that deserves a return trip (or three!) — there’s always more to learn, taste, and experience.
Without further ado… here’s Athens. 🇬🇷

⭐ Top Pick:
Port Square Hotel
If you’re planning to island-hop, Port Square Hotel is one of the most convenient stays near the port.
It’s modern, comfortable, and perfect for travelers catching an early ferry or coming back from the islands.
It’s about a 15 – 20 min ride to downtown Athens, but the location makes it efficient for a seamless transition between the mainland and the islands.
