Miniature Museum in Taipei, Taiwan

Phantom of the Opera miniature at Miniatures Museum of Taiwan with detailed dollhouse scene

Looking for something a little different from the usual temples and night markets? The Miniatures Museum of Taiwan is one of Taipei’s most unique museums — the first private miniature museum in Asia, tucked inside the basement of an office building.

It's small, quirky, and perfect for families traveling with kids, design and architecture lovers, or anyone looking for something fun to do, especially on a rainy day.

💡 SMART TRAVELER TIP

If you’re planning to visit multiple attractions, grab the Taipei Fun Pass — the Miniatures Museum is included, and it saves you money if you’re hopping around the city.

getting there

The museum is in Zhongshan District and super easy to reach by MRT:

  • Yellow Line → Get off at Songjiang Nanjing (7-min walk)

  • Green Line → Same stop, slightly longer walk (8-min)

🎫 Don’t forget your EasyCard
— it’s the tap-and-go metro card that makes Taipei transport seamless.
If you’re a first-time visitor, it’s a no-brainer.

what to expect

This museum is super cute. It’s located underground, but once you step inside, it feels like you’ve entered a tiny, magical world.

I was super surprised by just how much there was to see — everything from intricate dollhouses and European castles to recreations of Greece’s ruins and even a miniature Phantom of the Opera scene.

Every piece is packed with details that make you stop and stare.

Walking through, I couldn’t help but think of the Sylvanian Families (now called Calico Critters) I used to love to play as a kid — but here, everything is even smaller, more delicate, and beautifully crafted. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to collect little worlds of your own.

As you exit, there’s even a café right outside if you want to take a break before you head to your next stop, plus a gift shop stocked with miniature kits you can bring home and build yourself — the perfect little souvenir to remember your visit!
