If you’ve ever dreamed of waking up to Taipei 101 glowing outside your window, Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei makes that real. 🌆
My partner and I stayed in their Premier King Room, and trust me — the view at night? Unreal.
From sipping cocktails at Marco Polo Lounge to catching up with friends over dim sum at Shang Palace, this luxury hotel felt like a sleek city escape — without leaving Taipei.
Is it worth the splurge? After our two-day stay, I’m leaning towards absolutely yes.

checking in
Even though there’s the convenience of online check-in at Shangri-La, our experience didn't quite match our expectations.
We assumed that completing the online check-in process would allow us to use a digital key to unlock our hotel room seamlessly, but we were mistaken.
When we arrived at Shangri-La Far Eastern, my partner and I discovered that even though we checked in online, we still needed to visit the front desk to obtain a physical key card and submit our paperwork.
We initially didn’t understand the purpose of online check-in if we still had to go to the front desk.
We later asked the front desk staff why this was the case. They explained that some business travelers prefer to complete check-in on their phones immediately after the plane lands.
This allows them to handle the paperwork digitally, collect the key from the front desk, and go straight to their rooms. After hearing this explanation, we realized that the purpose of the online check-in is better for people traveling for business rather than for leisure.
Premier King Room
With 420 rooms in their tall building, which goes up to the 43rd floor.
Although I can't promise you'll get to choose your floor, we stayed on the 23rd floor, and it still offered some amazing city views of Taipei. 🏙️
We stayed in the Premier King Room, which had an incredible view of Taipei City. You can also see Taipei 101 from the room too!
The room is spacious and bright with high ceilings (very important!).
It includes a huge walk-in closet, a bathtub with special bath salts for a luxurious soak, a spacious rain shower with seats for extra comfort, a separate high-tech bidet toilet area with a fogged glass door (which feels awkward and funny), and the highlight of it all — a king-sized bed that offers a stunning view of the famous Taipei 101.

dining experience
Café at Far Eastern
An amazing 12-themed gourmet scene breakfast buffet serving a huge variety of flavors.
Even though the portions may seem small, you will definitely feel full after two plates. I only covered a small part and didn't get to try other dishes because I was too full. 🥲
⭐ PRO TIP
Make sure to book a reservation to fully enjoy this breakfast buffet!
Shang Palace
Led by Head Chef Liew Chin Fei, an experienced chef from prestigious MICHELIN Cantonese restaurants, Shang Palace offers up some fancy Cantonese cuisine.
It's best to make reservations to dig into these tasty Cantonese dishes.
Marco Polo Lounge
Have some cocktails and experience Taipei’s city views at Marco Polo Lounge. This vibrant lounge is perfect for those looking for a mix of fancy drinks and beautiful scenery.
The lounge becomes more crowded as the night progresses. The drinks are very unique with cute names and are VERY strong.
Breakfast room service
Enjoy a morning breakfast in your room with an amazing view.
You can choose from tasty options from their menu and call the main desk with your decision!
This became a special experience for my partner and me, especially after being out the past couple of days. We loved it so much that we ended up ordering a ton of food.
Best decision ever.
amenities
Shangri-La offers not just awesome dining and drinking spots, but also an exciting rooftop pool, fitness center, and spa! Sadly, we didn't have much time in Shangri-La, so I couldn't experience their additional amenities.
One of my favorite experiences was with one of the staff members from Shangri-La
Although I can't remember her name, she was super friendly and genuinely cared about making our stay enjoyable. Her warmth and attention to detail made a lasting impression on us. It's these little moments of connection that make a stay go from nice to truly unforgettable.
They even cleaned our room making it so nice and tidy 🥹

final thoughts
How was our stay at Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei?
Frankly? Unforgettable.
From the moment we arrived, the staff made sure every detail felt special — the service was that classic Shangri-La hospitality you always hear about, but it felt genuinely super personal.
As for the location, it strikes a perfect balance. You’re in Daan District, away from the city chaos, but still within easy reach of iconic sites like Taipei 101, Daan Forest Park, and Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall.
Whether we hopped on a YouBike, grabbed a taxi, or walked to the MRT station nearby, getting around was effortless.
Between the skyline views, comfy sleep, great dining, and quiet luxury vibes, I’d easily stay here again — especially when I’m craving a more relaxed Taipei escape.
