This is the kind of place that turns your night into a story. And if you’re already planning a trip to Taipei? Make room in your itinerary for this one.

👉 PRO TIP: Want the full experience? Book a stay at the Grand Hotel and enjoy 10% off your Meet Bar bill.

about Meet Bar

Located downstairs at the opulent Grand Hotel Taipei, Meet Bar is a gorgeous blend of vintage luxury and modern mixology. Designed in collaboration with the renowned BAR MOOD, the menu celebrates Taiwanese craft spirits and local ingredients with an East-meets-West twist.

When you arrive, you can expect an intimate lounge vibe with a sleek design that combines old-school charm with modern sophistication.

Their mission? One sip at a time, showcasing the world what Taiwanese cocktail culture is all about.

the secret passage

Did I mention there’s a secret tunnel?
Yup, it’s real — and it’s amazing.

Secret East Passage tunnel at Meet Bar Taipei with steep stairs, low ceiling, and caution sign for visitors.

When you dine at Meet Bar, you’ll get exclusive access to the once-classified East Passage, a historic tunnel that was used as an emergency escape route by heads of state and VIPs beneath the Grand Hotel.

It’s a little eerie (low ceilings, dim lights — watch your head, tall friends), but totally worth it for the short guided tour, a peek into Kong Er’s former residence, and an epic reveal at the end: a hidden outdoor photo spot with a glowing view of the Grand Hotel under the night sky.

🕰 Available from 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM — and staff must accompany you

📸 Btw, it gets busier later in the evening, so ask to visit before you sit down and order drinks.

🛏 Want the VIP treatment? Book a night at the Grand Hotel and walk back upstairs to your room afterward like royalty.

the vibe

From the outside, the Grand Hotel is majestic. But once you step inside? It’s like whoa. The place is massive, grand, and rich with history — it can be a little overwhelming if it’s your first time (it definitely was for me).

Here’s how to find the speakeasy: head inside The Grand Hotel and look to the right side of the first floor — you’ll see a staircase leading downstairs. Follow the steps, and in the back corner, you’ll spot a discreet golden sign. That’s Meet Bar.

Inside, it’s moody, modern, and chic. Like a luxurious speakeasy meets design-forward lounge. Not too crowded when we arrived (we made early reservations), but it did fill up fast later in the night.

💡 HOT TIP: When the staff ask if you’d like to visit the secret tunnel before or after drinks, go first. We were the first guests in and got full access to the passage for photos and the tour. Later on? Crowds.

We visited early and got first dibs on the tunnel walk, which was crazy because the bar filled up later. If you’re going, make reservations and arrive early.

While there’s no official menu online, a PDF featuring their signature cocktails (in Chinese) is available.

final thoughts

Some places don’t look like much online — but once you’re there? Totally different.

Full view of Meet Bar Taipei’s elegant modern bar area with moody lighting, shelves, and cozy speakeasy vibe.

Meet Bar was one of those spots. With TikToks and Instagram Reels floating around, nothing beats seeing the secret passage and soaking in the vibe in person.

Will I go back? Absolutely. I didn’t know much about the Grand Hotel beforehand (just heard rumors it’s haunted 👻), but now I’m obsessed. It’s perched high on a hill, filled with old-school luxurious charm, and you can feel the history in every corner.

If you’re visiting Meet Bar, I highly recommend staying at the Grand Hotel too. It’s a little out of the way, but that’s part of what makes it feel like an iconic spot to visit!
