I found Brugarol before we even landed in Barcelona — and honestly, it was one of the best pre-trip discoveries I've ever made. I’ve recommended this spot to everyone who was planning a trip to Barcelona, and each person came back telling me that this restaurant was incredible.

At the time, there were just a few hundred reviews, all five stars, all raving about the tasting menu and the presentation. No Michelin star. No hype. Just really, really good food that people couldn't stop talking about.

And the photos? Every dish looked like modern art — Japanese izakaya meets Mediterranean tapas. As a visual person, I was already sold. We booked our spot before the trip, and I'm so glad we did, because this spot deserves every bit of attention it's getting.

about Brugarol

Brugarol isn't your typical Barcelona restaurant — and that's exactly the point.

Everything on your plate traces back to their farm in Palamós — where they grow their own produce, press their own olive oil, and make their own wine. So yeah, farm-to-table actually means something here.

The chef behind it all is Angelo Scirocco — a fifth-generation South African chef who trained at Michelin-starred kitchens and somehow landed on blending Japanese precision with Mediterranean soul. It sounds like it shouldn't work… but it absolutely does.

Every dish reflects the season, the region, and a genuine commitment to the earth. Their eco-roots run deep — and frankly? You can taste the difference.

the vibe

Brugarol feels like dining in a secret hideaway.
The atmosphere is relaxed and intimate — perfect for dates or solo slow dining.

With only five tables and soft lighting, the whole space feels like an extension of the chef’s kitchen. When we visited, one couple was celebrating their anniversary (super cute!) — proof this spot has romance written all over it.
