Head Outside
⛴️ Ferry from Red Hook to Governors Island
Escape the city without really leaving. Hop on a ferry from Red Hook and explore Governors Island for the afternoon. Great for a picnic, biking, or a chill day date.
🐔 Find chickens (yes, really)
Some community gardens have chickens, and for a few quarters, you can feed them! It’s oddly cute, and they’re surprisingly chunky. Some spots even sell fresh eggs if you text the number posted nearby.
Squibb Park + Bridge
This elevated zig-zag bridge feels like a secret path tucked between the city and nature. It connects Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 1 to the Promenade, making it the perfect scenic stroll with skyline views of Manhattan.
Brooklyn Heights Promenade

You can’t beat this classic style date. Walk hand-in-hand along the Promenade with breathtaking views of the city. Great for golden hour or a low-key date, just chatting and people-watching.
WNYC Transmitter Park

Ditch the touristy spots and head to WNYC Transmitter Park. This waterfront gem offers stunning sunset views and a relaxed local vibe. Perfect for spreading a blanket and enjoying a picnic with your love.
Prospect Park
This huge park has a ton of endless activities you can think of! Picnic under the trees by the water, rent a pedal boat or kayak, discover unique and diverse vendors at Smorgasburg, challenge your partner to a friendly game of basketball, rent a Citi Bike and bike around the park, or people-watch!

Reserve a spot and make pasta with your partner! You'll start with a hands-on class where instructors walk you through how to make several types of pasta from scratch. Grab a drink while you work if you'd like. Once class wraps, you sit down and order your dinner, and the experience comes with a full meal: appetizer, entrée, and dessert.
I booked this for my partner's birthday, and it was such a fun way to celebrate. Hands-on, a little messy, and genuinely delicious by the end.
Bonus: it's close to Caroline's Donuts, one of mine and my fiancé's favorites, so it pairs perfectly with a sweet stop either before or after.
APOTHEKE Candle Making Experience
Create your own custom scent at APOTHEKE in Red Hook!
It’s pretty awesome that this class takes place right in their warehouse — where every product is made, packed, and shipped. After your candle-making class, you can even peek behind the scenes to see the process in action!
The staff walks you through APOTHEKE’s journey — from Chrissy, the founder, started crafting scents in her kitchen, to how different fragrance notes blend and transform into a finished candle using soy-based, cruelty-free ingredients — which is a win for both you and the planet.
You also get to choose your candle jar and packaging, which makes the experience feel extra special — perfect for gifting to your special someone (or yourself 😌). Plus, you can repurpose the jar when you’re done — cute and sustainable!
🕯️ PRO TIP: After pouring your candle, it needs about an hour to set — which you can explore nearby shops and cafés in Red Hook. For the best scent payoff, wait at least 3 days before lighting it, and let the wax melt evenly across the top on your first burn to prevent tunneling!

If you want to talk hidden gems — this art space is it. Located in East Williamsburg, Amant has two beautifully designed buildings with thoughtful, contemporary art.

🪴 Terrain at Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Head over to Bushwick and try roller skating! It's quite different from rollerblading with two wheels on each side, so you'll need to get the hang of it. I recommend starting slowly and gradually picking up speed. Remember, no stopping on the roller skating rink!

Get the croissant egg & cheese with a hashbrown — trust me, it’s my fave combo. Then split a donut with your partner as a sweet finisher.
Otway
One of our fave breakfast spots. We usually get it to-go, but dining in? Even better. Delicious food, beautiful interiors, and fantastic service!

Donut lovers, run here! These handmade donuts are next-level good. Think guava, passionfruit, churros — all handmade and delicious! Their flavors rotate, so check what’s new in-store when you go. Just eat them fresh — they’re best same day.
Ubeland (food festival)
Head to a local food fest and hunt down Ubeland! If you’re an ube lover (like me), you’ll love their creative takes on this purple yam goodness.
🎬 Alamo Drafthouse

This Downtown BK theater is next-level. There’s even recliner seats, food + drinks delivered, and no phone light needed (there’s a light under the tray!). Great for rainy days or movie lovers who want a full cozy experience.
Nitehawk Cinema

If you're looking for a unique theater experience, head to Nitehawk Cinema!
There are two different locations, one in Williamsburg and another in Prospect Park.
This theater offers a retro experience where you can watch both old and new films, order great food and drinks at your table, and simply enjoy a great movie.
🍷 Wine bar
On a nice day, grab a glass (or bottle!) and unwind in the back patio of a cute wine bar.
Sometimes the simple dates are the best ones. 😌
Pizza 🍕
No Brooklyn date is complete without a classic New York-style pizza date. Grab a slice (or two!) from a local spot and fuel your exploration.

Go on a mini adventure with your significant other to spot one of Brooklyn’s many Little Free Libraries.
I love picking up a book, finding a sunny bench, and reading for a bit. A cute, slow-paced date idea.
Rent CitiBikes
Rent a Citi Bike with an all-day pass or get from one destination to another quickly. This is a fantastic way to see more of Brooklyn than you could on foot, and you'll even get some exercise along the way!
Farmers market
Wander through a farmers market and find unique finds on weekend mornings. Try local produce, discover handcrafted treasures, and maybe even pick up organic ingredients to whip up a delicious meal together.
