If you’ve ever imagined waking up with views of Taipei 101 glowing right outside your hotel window, this stay delivers exactly that.
When my partner and I checked into Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei, it instantly felt like a polished city escape — luxe without being stuffy. Our Premier King Room had skyline views that honestly made nighttime in Taipei feel extra magical.
Between sipping cocktails in the evening at Marco Polo Lounge and fancy Chinese food dinner catch-ups at Shang Palace, it became one of those stays where you’re just as excited about the hotel as the city outside.
checking in
We tried the online check-in before arriving at the hotel, thinking it meant a fully digital arrival — but even after checking in online, you’ll still need to swing by the front desk for your physical key card and final verification, like passports or ID.
At first, it felt a little redundant, but the staff explained it’s mainly designed for business travelers who want to handle paperwork ahead of landing, so picking up the keycard is quicker. For leisure travelers, it’s nice but not essential — just something to know so expectations are realistic.
Premier King room overview
With 420 rooms spread across 43 floors at Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei, views are kind of part of the experience here. While you can’t pick your exact floor (or maybe you can if you ask), we stayed on the 23rd and still scored incredible skyline views.
We stayed in the Premier King Room — bright, spacious, and honestly one of those rooms you don’t mind staying in. High ceilings (major plus), a huge walk-in closet, a luxurious tub with bath salts for you to enjoy, a rain shower with seating, plus a separate bidet toilet area for extra privacy.
And yes… You can still see the view of Taipei 101 right from the bed, which makes nighttime views especially *chef’s kiss*. 🤌🏼

dining experience
Café at Far Eastern
Their breakfast buffet is honestly next-level — about a dozen themed stations covering everything from Asian classics to Western bites.
Portions may look small, but trust me… two plates in and you’ll be done. I barely scratched the surface before tapping out. 🥲
⭐ PRO TIP: Reserve ahead so you don’t miss out — mornings can get packed.
Shang Palace
Led by Head Chef Liew Chin Fei — who comes from prestigious MICHELIN Cantonese kitchens — Shang Palace delivers refined Cantonese dishes that feel classic but elevated.
If you’re craving polished Cantonese cuisine, this is absolutely the fancy-but-worth-it pick. Reservations are smart here if you want a relaxed experience.
Marco Polo Lounge
Cocktails + skyline views = solid night out. Drinks are creative, strong (you’ve been warned 😅), and the vibe gets livelier as the evening rolls on.
Great for date night or a chill catch-up spot with a view.
Room service for breakfast
You can order breakfast straight to your room with skyline views included — honestly, such a vibe.
The menu covers both Western and Asian options, and ordering is simple: just call the main desk with your selections and preferred delivery time.
After a few packed sightseeing days, we were so tired that we wanted to stay in and enjoy our room, and this turned into one of our favorite moments.
We may have over-ordered… but zero regrets. Definitely one of those “treat yourself” travel experiences.
amenities
At Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei, it’s not just about the rooms and the views — the hotel also has a rooftop pool, fitness center, spa, and multiple dining spots if you want a full resort-style city stay.
Sadly, our schedule was packed, so we didn’t get to enjoy these extras properly (next time, for sure).
our cleaned up room
What did stand out, though, was the high-quality service. One of the staff members was incredibly warm and attentive — the kind of hospitality that makes a place memorable even after checkout. And coming back to a perfectly refreshed room each day? Always a little luxury moment I appreciate.

final thoughts
So… How was our stay at Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei?
Frankly? Unforgettable.
From the moment we arrived, the service felt warm, thoughtful, and genuinely personal (the kind of hospitality people rave about for a reason).
Location-wise, was perfect. You’re located in the amazing Da’an District — much quieter than the tourist core — but still close to icons like Taipei 101, Da’an Forest Park, and Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall.
Between YouBike, MRT access, and quick taxis, getting around was effortless.
Add skyline views, incredible dining, and that quiet luxury vibe… yeah, I’d absolutely stay here again — especially when I want a softer, slower Taipei trip.
