An Ơi Cafe & Restaurant in Con Dao
While staying at The Secret, we had breakfast provided at the hotel, buttttt… we decided to skip it to eat somewhere local since we’re only here for a day… Which is how my partner found An Ơi, a mother-daughter cafe in Con Dao that bakes fresh bread every morning and serves fruit that is next level.
It’s a cozy, plant-filled spot with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plenty of vegan-friendly dishes, and a mission I love the most: helping people slow down, appreciate nature, and look after the island they’re visiting.
The Story Behind An Oi
An Oi is a mother-daughter restaurant that opened in the summer of 2022 when they relocated from Central Vietnam to Con Dao.
Their vision was to create a cozy spot where people from all over the world and the island could come together to connect with nature and enjoy the nourishing meals they made with love.
Every morning, they bake fresh bread, hoping to start their guests’ day with warmth and positivity.
Their goal?
To inspire people to appreciate the beautiful nature surrounding them, embrace a sustainable lifestyle, and raise awareness about environmental conservation.
The mother also teaches yoga at the local cultural center — so if you’re in the mood for a stretch, she’s got you covered! They’re also happy to assist with travel tips and island recommendations. •ᴗ•
Getting There
We rented a scooter through our hotel to explore at our own pace, and parked right outside An Ơi.
The Inside feels like an intimate Asian home, whereas the outside is breezy and open-air, with plenty of potted greenery. There were seats in both, but we decided to sit outside to soak in the island vibes on our last day.

What to Order
Two Eggs Your Way with Fresh Fruit + Avocado Toast with Bacon
Delicious, and the fruit is next level — fresh and naturally sweet.
🥞 Pancakes with fresh fruit & honey
We shared this and although I only took a couple of bites because I was getting so full from my breakfast, the pancakes were so good, and the fresh passionfruit made my partner’s day! The bananas were incredibly sweet too.
Brown rice drink (cold) + fresh orange juice
The brown rice drink was subtle, with a lot of water and ice, but enjoyable, and surprisingly it had a hint of coffee flavor.
If you want add one more thing to your order, make it the fresh fruit.

Final Thoughts
We absolutely loved this spot.
Eating at local places like An Ơi adds so much depth to a trip, because it’s about the connections as much as the food. I wish we’d had more time to chat with the owner and hear her story, but we had to head back and pack for our next stop, Saigon. If I return, I’d love to try lunch and dinner, talk more with the locals, and join one of their yoga sessions.
After this post went live, Ly Ly, the owner of An Ơi, found it and shared it on their Facebook page, and she thanked me personally. I’m so touched!!
EVERLASTYING exists to spotlight meaningful places like this, and it means so much to me that this story traveled so far. To the whole An Ơi team: thank you for creating something so beautiful.
