If you're wondering what an ultra-luxury stay in Kaohsiung would be like, definitely look no further because I gotchu. When we stayed at InterContinental Kaohsiung, the moment we stepped into their lobby, the elegance of the refined stay really just made it feel like, woah, we are staying at a luxury hotel. Emphasis on the luxury, lol. This is easily one of our favorite hotels from our recent trip to Taiwan. InterContinental Kaohsiung ticked all the boxes we had: impeccable service, comfort, a good location, and, not to mention, good food and drinks. This was also, I believe, our first or second time staying at an InterContinental, and we just loved it so much that from here on out, we're looking forward to staying at other InterContinental hotels.

As you step into InterContinental with your luggage in hand, you might be wondering where to check in. Walk through the second grand entrance, and you'll see a spacious interior with seating, sofas, and people lounging, a bar in the center with booths and seating in the back. On the right-hand side, you'll see different counters with staff standing right behind them, and that's where you'll be checking in.
If you're unsure how to speak Chinese, don't worry - the staff is multilingual and will welcome you with polished professionalism.
Make sure to have your passport and information ready. Once checked in, you'll be handed a room key; they'll let you know the WiFi details and which room you'll be staying in; and then you can head on over to the elevators.

Our room at the InterContinental Kaohsiung felt like a luxurious mini studio apartment, with everything perfectly placed and thoughtfully laid out. It was a serene, spacious haven that had us feeling totally zen from the moment we walked in.
The bed was like sleeping on a cloud — perfectly plush and supportive, with pillows so soft you'll just melt into them. The only downside? The pillows were filled with down feathers, which might not be everyone's cup of tea.
The lighting in the room was on point, with a warm, inviting glow that made the whole space feel incredibly cozy. And the amenities? They thought of everything. It's the kind of room you'll be making excuses to hang out in all day.
If you've read my other hotel reviews, you'll know that I'm a sucker for a great bathroom design, and the InterContinental Kaohsiung definitely delivered.
The bathroom featured a spacious stand-up shower area and a huge, luxurious bathtub. They even provided a selection of bath salts for you to choose from, adding that extra touch of indulgence.
One of the coolest features of the bathroom was the separate toilet area, complete with a high-tech toilet that opens up on its own and flushes automatically. And if you're worried about privacy, don't be - there's a dimmer switch for the window divider between the bathroom and the bedroom, so you can control just how much you want to reveal.
The attention to detail in the bathroom was impressive, with high-end amenities like Byredo shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and even hand soap. And let's not forget the Dyson hairdryer - because who doesn't love a little high-tech pampering? These luxurious touches really elevated the whole experience.

One of the most iconic parts of the InterContinental experience is their excellent breakfast buffet, and the Kaohsiung location definitely did not disappoint. The spread was extensive, with a wide range of Western and Asian favorites to choose from.
Whether you're in the mood for a comforting bowl of congee, a made-to-order omelette or whatever type of eggs you prefer, or a selection of fresh bread and fruit, you'll find plenty of options to satisfy your cravings.
While the breakfast buffet at InterContinental Kaohsiung might not have been quite as extensive as the one at Shangri-La in Taipei, the food quality was top-notch. Everything was super fresh and beautifully displayed, making it a real pleasure to start the day here.
The bar at InterContinental Kaohsiung, located right near the entrance, is a decent spot for a drink, even if it's not the main attraction. We actually grabbed a cocktail here before heading out to catch our TRA train to Tainan. It's a nice place to meet up with friends you haven't seen in a while or to have a business discussion over a few beverages.
Overall, while the bar might not be the standout feature of the hotel, the breakfast buffet alone is worth getting excited about. Trust me, you won't be leaving hungry!

Loved our stay at the InterContinental Kaohsiung, and frankly, I think it made me fall even more in love with the IHG brand.
We've stayed in nice hotels before, but nothing quite like this. Between the high-class service and thoughtful amenities, it really makes you wish you'd booked more than one night — which, yes, was our mistake.
You'll leave feeling pampered, restored, and already dreaming of your next visit.
